COLOGNE-NIEHL
The SCHMIDT subsidiary at Cologne-Niehl for bulk goods and logistics was established in 1981, and is today noted for its expertise and well known to the bulk chemical industry. Located centrally in the Cologne chemical industry region and with direct connection to the seaports of Antwerp and Rotterdam via the Rhine river, this SCHMIDT subsidiary offers ideal conditions for import and export traffic.
TRANSPORTS
Railway siding
SCHMIDT logistics centres have direct access to the railway net.
Tilting platform for containers
Refilling granulate and free flowing powder products from 20′, 30′ or 40′ containers without mechanical impact (free fall) into road tankers, silo containers or box containers.
Container terminal
Bulk storage in containers, container transhipment and storage site equipped with modern handling facilities.
Intermodal traffic
Transport of dry goods as bulk in 20′, 30′ oder 40′ containers.
Tarpaulin transports
Transportation of dry bulk products by tarpaulin trailers (only in conjunction with storage).

Container storage
Storing bulk goods into silo or box containers.
Storing/Warehousing pallets
Storing/warehousing palletized, packaged goods in warehouses or in the open depot.
Silo battery
Storing bulk goods into a silo battery.
PRODUCT HANDLING
Bagging
Filling tubular or flat-film sacks (FFS), big bags, octabins, small packaging as well as containers with powdery and granulate products.
Pneumatic or low-velocity conveying
Effective conveying system, gentle on the product, at low velocity for sensitive, dust-forming products as an alternative to traditional conveying processes at higher speed.
Homogenizing
Mixing to produce a homogenous quality of products with oscillating characteristics for granulate.
Metal separation
Separating metal remainders from the granulate.
Palletizing and shrinking
Carrying out palletizing and shrink work with and/or without providing packaging material.
Dedusting
Separation of production and feeder dust (angel hair) as well as packaging remainders and other contaminations of the granulate.
Screening
Separating different granule particle sizes as well as coarse and fine powders.
Debagging
Direct or machine-discharge of big bags, octabins or bags into road tankers or into other packaging.
Separation
Optoelectric separation of different materials.
Drying
Process to eliminate core and surface moisture from the granulate.
