CONVERSION OF A NEW ASTRATA TELEMATICS SYSTEM
SCHMIDT vehicles equipped with a new telematics system
Due to the discontinuation of the Euteltracs service effective 01/01/2016, the SCHMIDT GROUP fleet of vehicles needed to be equipped with a new telematics System. The supplier Astrata, successor of the former Euteltracs providers Alcatel, Qualcomm and OmniTracs, was selected in order to continue the long-time appreciated cooperation in the field of telematics systems.
More than 610 vehicles have been equipped in the SCHMIDT GROUP maintenance and repair facilities during a period of seven months. The new telematics system is substantially more modern compared with its predecessor and offers a number of innovations and improvements. Along with the conversion of the fleet of vehicles, the integration of the new telematics system into the SCHMIDT GROUP TMS forwarding software could be smoothly performed as well.
The major innovation of the new telematics system comprises the removable, tablet-based operating unit DriverLinc+ featuring an integrated navigation system, several communication applications, presentation of data originating from the digital tachograph in graphic format, as well as driver assistance applications. All drivers can individually select their language of operation.
Further service improvements, such as remote tachograph data download options, picture capturing of CMR documents with the integrated camera, as well as a digital version of the SCHMIDT GROUP driver manual as an application on the tablet are currently in preparation.
Available vehicle and driver data for the SCHMIDT GROUP traffic management will be extended.
Next to the SCHMIDT GROUP traffic management, all sub-contractors can access available driver and vehicle information through an internet application at any time.
