Shortly after Germany’s reunification, an office in Leuna, situated in a significant region of the chemical production industry, was opened to represent the SCHMIDT Group.
Following rapid development and a large demand for storage
capacity in this region, the SCHMIDT Group established a logistics centre at Grosslehna near Leipzig.
Right in the middle of the "Chemical Triangle" of Buna - Luna - Bitterfeld a state-of-the-art plant with meanwhile 102 storage silos and storage/warehousing facilities covering 5200 m² was set up to store and process bulk goods.
Simultaneously, a vehicle fleet for this specific location was installed, complemented by the site's very own tank cleaning and service facilities as well as rail access.
In 2006, our hot purge installation with a
capacity of 25,000 tons p.a. started its operation.
It serves to thermically process PE granulate and to remove monomere remainders (carbon exhaust fumes) from the granulate. This "degassing" is requested by numerous manufacturers in the plastics industry to be able to produce a multitude of parts.
